The free event, hosted by North Somerset Council and its partners will this year focus on building stronger, independent communities. A wide number of organisations and groups will be on hand, offering advice and information on a range of issues, from health care and social services to employment and community safety. There will be lots of entertainment and activities for visitors of all ages including a multi-cultural parade through the Town Centre and children's craft stalls. There will also be opportunities to find out about activities and clubs in your local area which you can get involved in. Date: Sunday 27 January 2013 Time: 12-4pm Venue: The Winter Gardens, Weston-super-Mare I had the amazing opportunity to share a traditional dance from Guatemala and show a Mayan costume in The International Costume Day. This dance is called "El Son" and the music was "Marimba", witch is our national instrument in Guatemala. We got to see traditional costumes from Japan, Wales, Pakistan, Nigeria and of course Guatemala! This event was organized by the Bridge of Peace Volunteers Association and by the Women's Federation of World Peace in Bristol yesterday. We also got the opportunity to meet with Bristol Labour Councillor Faruk Chodhudry to talk about how to get involved with the communities. I am very pleased to had my first interview by BBC Bristol radio. You can listen to it live today Sunday 30th of December from 3:30-5:00 at 94.9 Fm or online at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radiobristol/on-air |
