I joined Cafe Mamma in 2009 when my lovely girl was born. It was a life line since I just moved from Canada and all my family lived abroad. Tamsyn and all the peer supporters were very friendly and made me feel very welcome. First we meet in Avon way and later the group started to grow and we relocated in #Portishead Children Centre. I learned more about the importance of breastfeeding and when the opportunity to help others came, I was more than happy to become a peer supporter. The cafe runs every Tuesday from 10-12 where you can get one on one support. There is also a helpline you can call anytime and now we got a Facebook group where you can post your concerns anytime. It doesnt matter where you come from, as long as you know that breastfeeding is the best start for your baby and you are happy to encourage others to do so, that is the important thing. So if you are interested in becoming a peer supporter then please call us 07816 366370. or complete the form clicking here and someone will contact you to chat it through. Alternatively you can send an email at [email protected] or join us on Facebook Other useful links Come and support a new community organization! Have you heard about Social enterprises? "What are social enterprises? A social enterprise is a business that trades for a social and/or environmental purpose. It will have a clear sense of its ‘social mission’: which means it will know what difference it is trying to make, who it aims to help, and how it plans to do it. It will bring in most or all of its income through selling goods or services. And it will also have clear rules about what it does with its profits, reinvesting these to further the ‘social mission’" To find out more go to: http://www.socialenterprise.org.uk I am hoping to set Latin cooking workshops and salsa lessons for the community in Worle and Weston Super Mare :) If you think you got an idea for Social Enterprise, call Hazel Wintle at North Somerset Enterprise Agency (Tel: 01934 418118, Fax: 01934 629541, [email protected]) because she has a have a couple of appointments free with an adviser on August 6th We just finished our questionnaire and we are looking for as many voices as possible to have your say in the #BigWorle Every year BIG gives out millions of pounds from the National Lottery to good causes.
